Things to do here in beautiful Frigiliana

Frigiliana is often called the most beautiful village in Spain, and for those of us who call it home, it’s easy to see why. Between the winding cobblestone streets of the Mudéjar quarter and the scent of jasmine in the air, there is a magic here that you won’t find anywhere else.

Whether you are here for a day trip or a long weekend, here is how to spend a perfect 24 hours in our "Pueblo Blanco."

09:00 – Breakfast with a View

Start your morning at one of the small cafes near the Plaza de las Tres Culturas. Order a "pitufo" (a small local toasted sandwich) and a café con leche. Watch the village wake up as the sun hits the whitewashed walls.

11:00 – Get Lost in the Barribarto

The best way to see Frigiliana is to put your map away. Head up into the Barribarto (the old quarter). Follow the ceramic plaques that tell the history of the village’s Moorish past. Every corner is a photo opportunity, from the blue-painted doors to the vibrant hanging flower pots.

13:30 – A Taste of the Axarquía

For lunch, seek out something traditional. Look for dishes featuring the local miel de caña (sugar cane molasses) produced right here in the village at the only remaining factory in Europe.

16:00 – The Best Viewpoint in the Village

If you’re feeling energetic, hike up to the ruins of the Lizar Castle. The climb is steep, but the reward is a panoramic view of the village cascading down the hillside toward the Mediterranean Sea.

18:30 – The Golden Hour Ritual

As the sun begins to dip behind the mountains, it is time for the local ritual: the sundowner. Find a terrace overlooking the valley. This is the moment to ask for a Davison & Brogan Gin & Tonic.
