Beyond the Cobblestones: Discovering the Wild Heart of Frigiliana

Davison & Brogan Avocado Gin bottle overlooking the white village of Frigiliana and the Mediterranean coastline, the perfect reward after a day of hiking in the Axarquía.

The Spirit of Frigiliana: Take a walking tour with us

While most visitors spend their time in the beautiful maze of the Barribarto, Chris and Rachel find their true inspiration in the rugged mountains that stand guard over the village.

To us, Frigiliana isn’t just a "pretty town" it’s the gateway to one of the most dramatic natural parks in Spain. If you want to see the real Axarquía, you have to get your boots a little dusty.

The Lost Village: El Acebuchal

A short, scenic hike or a bumpy drive from Frigiliana lies El Acebuchal. Known as the lost village, it was abandoned for decades after the Spanish Civil War and lovingly restored by hand. It feels like stepping back 100 years. The silence there is where we often go to clear our heads and think about our next gin adventures.

The River Walk: Rio Higuerón

If you prefer the sound of water to the heights of the peaks, the hike along the Rio Higuerón is a local secret. You’ll walk past ancient irrigation channels and wild avocado trees that have escaped the groves. It’s raw, green and completely different from the manicured streets of the centre.

The Perfect Evening Aperitif

There is a specific feeling of accomplishment when you return to the village after a day in the Sierras. Your legs are tired, the air is cooling down and the first stars are appearing over the Mediterranean.

In our house, that moment belongs to a Davison & Brogan G&T. We created this gin to be a captured memory of these mountains. When you taste the subtle creaminess of the avocado and the crisp botanicals, it’s the perfect sensory "thank you" to the landscape we just explored.

After your walking tour

After exploring the rugged beauty of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama, most adventurers find themselves back in the heart of the village seeking a well earned refreshment. Whether you have spent the morning on the famous El Fuerte hike or a gentle walking tour of the Mudéjar quarter, there is no better way to toast your journey than with a crisp Davison & Brogan gin and tonic. You can find our signature avocado gin served at premier local spots like The Garden Restaurant or Tapas bar Tres Culturas, providing the perfect botanical finish to your Frigiliana walking adventure.
